Two weeks ago Sony officially
announced the DVD release of
Quark - The Complete Series. This long-awaited package for the short-lived series was given a release date of
October 14th by the studio, and that's still what it is...for most retailers, anyway.
There's only one fellow I know who might want this release a tad more than I do (and I want it a LOT!), and that's longtime TVShowsOnDVD reader James Smith III...a guy who's been (vocally, though nicely) hoping for this release for years and years. James sent us a note the other day (Sunday), saying how he had noticed that Amazon's pre-order listing suddenly had a new availability date, and one a lot sooner than the studio's press release had given:
September 2nd! Had the release date been moved up?
Today we've gotten confirmation from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment that the have struck a deal with Amazon to let them exclusively begin shipping
Quark - The Complete Series DVDs earlier than other retailers, on Sept. 2nd, while the general release date for everyone else will remain Oct. 14th. There will apparently be no change to the contents; you'll just get it quicker by ordering through Amazon.
