For those of you not in-the-know, Deborah Pratt was married to
Quantum Leap Creator Donald P. Bellisario until 1991 (the show ran from 1989-1993). Pratt has many credits on the show, being listed as the Co-Creator, a Writer (for the pilot, "Genesis," among others), as Co-Executive Producer on 6 episodes, and as the voice of both the Narrator and that of the supercomputer "Ziggy." She's surely someone who would know if
Quantum Leap DVDs were in the offing!
Today we've been getting tips from TVShowsOnDVD readers like Daniel Calleja, Stewart Borland, and Stephen Jacques about a new interview with Pratt, published within the past couple of weeks at
this Quantum Leap fan website. The interview was conducted by Sharon Major, and here are the highlights:
At the end of October, I telephoned Deborah Pratt and received this brief e-mail reply: "...Universal called to tell me they are releasing the DVD's for the first season and asked if I would have Ziggy do the intro. Let the troops know things are in the works." Of course, everyone (including me) wanted to know the specifics, so on November 10, I made another call...
--------------------
Sharon: ...You mentioned that you were asked to have Ziggy do the intro on the DVD. Do you mean redoing the Saga Cell?
Deborah: The saga cell, but also promos. "Now on DVD - the first season of Quantum Leap."
Sharon: Are there going to be any goodies?
Deborah: I know they called Scott. I can find out some of the skinny and let you know.
Sharon: I know for later seasons they had bloopers and "behind-the-scenes" that were shown at the cons which could be included on the DVD's. I want it all!
Deborah: Put a list together of what the fans think should be included and let me know.
Sounds promising! Read the full story at the link above, and look for a mail-to link at the bottom to contribute ideas for supplements to Sharon Major to pass on to Deborah Pratt.
Adding fuel to this fire are a multitude of recent reports - all unverifiable - that there was some sort of industry-based convention in Las Vegas recently which was attended by retailers (Suncoast was mentioned as an example), and that at this event
Quantum Leap DVDs were mentioned as well. A couple of people told us that the target for release was "Fall 2004."
Oh, boy! Keep in mind that none of this is official from Universal, who last mentioned
QL DVDs
well over a year ago. We are attempting to get information about this direct from the studio, but everyone seems to be on vacation for the Thanksgiving holiday. Stay tuned, though, because we expect to get the straight story about
Leap DVDs in the next week or two.
