Late last week we got word that VSC (Video Service Corp) is working on the first season set for Puppets Who Kill, a live-action comedy show airing on "The Comedy Channel" in Canada. While a release date hasn't been nailed down, we're told to expect the set to be released in late spring. The special features haven't been announced either, but VSC has said they are planning on jamming it full of material. For those of you unfamiliar with the show, here's the write-up from the official website - www.puppetswhokill.com:
Puppets Who Kill is a live-action half hour comedy series about a halfway house for very bad puppets. Puppets who lie, puppets who cheat, puppets who have no respect for human life or dignity... Puppets Who Kill.
The thirteen episode series centers around four felonious puppets who've committed crimes against society. Now they're doing time with their hapless human social worker Dan Barlow, with whom they undergo therapy as they wait for that glorious day when they can be re-integrated back into society. But it's not so easy. They're conniving, dangerous, self-centered and bitter. They're the anti-Muppets.
Puppets Who Kill is set in the real world. The puppets are treated as if they're alive and everybody accepts this as reality, very much like the toys in "Toy Story" or the cartoons in "Roger Rabbit."
The world of Puppets Who Kill is full of sex and intrigue. It's populated by dupliditous, cheating, back-stabbing petty individuals; people and puppets who will stop at nothing to advance their own personal agenda... pretty much like real life.
Every episode of Puppets Who Kill shows our characters forging out into the world, concocting outrageous schemes and interacting with human beings in the most unlikely ways... even having sex with them.
Shot in single camera format, Puppets Who Kill incorporates a combination of location and studio settings, a superb cast of seasoned actors, and is finished off with a rich soundtrack and state-of-the-art film look.
In many ways each episode of Puppets Who Kill is a stand-alone film.
