A Pup Named Scooby-Doo - The Scooby DVDs Continue with '88-'91 Series on 4-Ep Single Discs

With the release this week of The Best of The New Scooby-Doo Movies, featuring 15 hour-long episodes on 4 discs for a $65 SRP, Warner now turns their attention to another Scooby series, the late '80s half-hour show A Pup Named Scooby-Doo.

Perhaps in response to intense pre-release fan comments that the New Scooby-Doo Movies was too expensive for what it was, Warner has decided to break the Pup Named Scooby-Doo releases into single-disc volumes with four episodes each. The first two volumes will cost $14.98 SRP each, and contain episodes starting at the beginning and running in order:
  • A Pup Named Scooby-Doo - Volume 1
    • A Bicycle Built For Boo
    • The Sludge Monster From the Earth's Core
    • Wanted Cheddar Alive
    • The Schnook Who Took My Comic Book

  • A Pup Named Scooby-Doo - Volume 2
    • For Letter Or Worse
    • Babysitter From Beyond
    • Snow Place Like Home
    • Now Museum Now You Don't

In this incarnation of the show, the kids really were kids, and "Mystery Inc." wasn't invented yet...they called themselves "The Scooby-Doo Detective Agency." Freddie has a nemesis called "The Red Herring" (who really lived up to his name), Daphne had her parents' butler to help if needed, and Velma used her PC often enough. Shaggy and Scooby didn't change much, just got younger.

Each disc runs about 94 minutes long, and will both arrive on July 19th. Video is 4x3 full screen, and English and Spanish audio is both there in Mono format. Plus English, Spanish, and French subtitles along with closed captioning. Cover art isn't in yet, but stay tuned and we'll bring it to you later.
