With Punky's 4th and final season set package
on the way to stores later this month, Shout! is shifting gears back to the concept of single-disc releases. As some of you may remember, last year we
reported that Amazon was suddenly listing 6(!) different single-disc "volume" DVD releases for
Punky Brewster, all set to come out in July 2007. They never seemed to materialize, though, and we suspect Shout! heard it loud and clear from the fans that they needed to get Season 4 out first.
Now, like we said, that last season is almost here, and Shout! has announced to retailers that they're moving forward with a release of
Punky Brewster - Season 1, Volume 1. This will feature the original 3-part story of Punky (Soleil Moon-Frye) and dog Brandon coming to live with Henry (George Gaynes), plus a couple of others. As a bonus, you'll get cartoons from the animated Saturday morning spin-off version,
It's Punky Brewster, including "“Pretty Ugly/Glomer's Story" (which will be the fixed version, not the
problematic version on the original first season release).
The release is expected to have a list price around $15, roughly, and will be in stores on
May 6th. If you have anyone who needs a quick introduction to Punky Power, then this is the perfect way to show off the little tyke.
