A couple of weeks ago we reported that Alliance Arts America had obtained the rights to various Universal-owned properties, to put out under their "
TV Guide Presents" line of DVDs. One of the titles we
included in those reports was Jack Webb's 1978 program
Project U.F.O.. We said at the time we would be in touch with the studio, and look into further details about this title.
Late this past week we talked to Alliance Arts head Joe Amodei himself, and he explained that this series is actually not one of the properties they' have licensed. He has an idea as to where the confusion comes from, but could not go into detail at this time as it could possibly jeopardize other ongoing discussions.
For now the only thing that can be said is that they are not releasing
Project U.F.O., but they are in negotiations for other sci fi series. More to come about that in the not-too-distant future. In the meantime, TVShowsOnDVD regrets the confusion, and we're sorry for plain getting your hopes up (ours were, too). That doesn't mean it will never happen, but just not right away. Stay tuned and we'll see what happens!
