The 6-part remake mini-series of
The Prisoner, starring James Caviezel (
Déjà Vu, Passion of the Christ) as Number 6 and Ian McKellen (
Lord of the Rings films,
X-Men films) as Number 2, is now set to debut on AMC this November (a nine-minute preview of it
is available online). Not every fan of the original 1967 series is happy about the prospect of a remake. However, those fans who own a Blu-ray Disc player are pleased that it at least presents an opportunity for A&E Home Video to release the classic Patrick McGoohan version of the show in the high-def format, a 5 BD set simply titled
The Prisoner - The Complete Series.
When we
originally reported on this release in early June, it was based strictly on a pre-order listing at Amazon.com, which continues to show a release date of
October 27th (see button link below). However, at this point in time Amazon has stopped taking per-orders for the release, and has also adjusted the list price for the 17-episode set from $89.95 SRP to $129.95 SRP. No reason is currently known for these changes. The other addition to the listing is a look at the front cover of this Blu-ray release, and we've got that picture for you below:
