Two-and-a-half weeks ago 20th Century Fox issued a
major announcement, bolstering their support of the Blu-ray Disc format of HDTV-compatible home video media. Their support of Sony's high defininistion disc format was mostly on the movie side, but included the mention that "
Fox's first-ever TV release on BD, PRISON BREAK" would be among the titles released before year's end. Unfortunately, they had no further information at the time...not even saying whether they would go back to the first season, or instead make it a high-def format version of this week's DVD version of the Season 2 package. We were all left hanging for a while.
Now, TVShowsOnDVD has gotten exclusive early info from our industry sources that the Blu-ray Disc release will be
Prison Break - Season 1. Fox Home Entertainment will bow this 6-disc collection on
November 13th. Cost will be $99.98 SRP. We're told that all of the bonus material found on
the first season DVD version will be included on this BD version, with no additional exclusive-to-hi-def features. Audio options will include English DTS 5.1 HD, French Dolby Surround 5.1, and Japanese Dolby Surround 5.1, with subtitles in English, French and Spanish.
