Disney/Jetix has announced the first two releases of
Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive on DVD. Volume 1 and Volume 2 will both hit on
September 18th. For the first time ever, a
Power Rangers show will be released in North America as a complete season, which the studio says they are doing per the wishes of
Ranger fans. There will be a total of 5 volumes to cover the entire season run of
PROO, which is rumored to only be a single season long (to make way for the next version,
Power Rangers: Jungle Fury, in 2008). One of the later DVD volumes among these five will include the double-length episode "Once A Ranger," which celebrates 15 years of
Power Rangers by teaming up 5 members from different previous groups (since this won't air for another month yet, we'll avoid spoilers about that here...but the info, including a pic, is easy to find on the 'net if you really want to know).
The running time of
Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive - Volume 1: Brownbeard's Pearl and
Volume 2: Toru Diamond will each be 138 minutes. Cost is $19.99 SRP each (CA$24.99 SRP each in Canada). There will be a five-part "Ranger Profiles" in-depth interview series, one for each of the five DVD volumes. Another extra that spans all five volumes is the "Ranger Reserve Training Course", which is described as a progressive multi-level game, where you can conquer one level per volume. Here are the full-size box art pics for each of the first two volumes:
