First up for you today, we have the cover art for
Power Rangers Dino Thunder - Volume 2: Legacy of Power and
- Volume 3: White Thunder, which we've
reported is going to be in-stores on
Sept. 7th, and which we now know will each be 110 minutes per DVD:
Phenomenal, eh? Now for something even MORE phenomenal: a tip-off from reader Tr'e Johnson (thanks, Tr'e!) that the folks at fansite RangerBase.com have gotten ahold of
this awesome info about the next incarnation of
Power Rangers after the
Dino Thunder team is done. The next show will be called
Power Rangers S.P.D., and the acronym stands for "Space Patrol Delta." The studio, Buena Vista, has started to spread word about the next show to industry insiders, to promote licensing opportunities (get the show on clothes, trading cards, lunchboxes, toys, and other stuff, like - of course - DVDs!).
At that link, you can click on the scanned image of the fact sheet (that's the back side; the front side is also available) and see more info about the forthcoming
S.P.D. show. What's in all this for
Dino Ranger fans? A note near the bottom, under the heading "SPD Launch Calendar," that the first phase is:
November/December 2004: "Power Rangers SPD" sneak peek in "Power Rangers Dino Thunder" Volume Five DVD Release (BVHE)
A quick call late last week to the proper people confirmed that tentative plans are to get Power Rangers Dino Thunder's 4th and 5th DVD releases into stores during the early part of the holiday season, so they can be available for gift-giving. They'll come out on the same street date, just like V2 & V3. Exact dates, the subtitles, and the extras are unavailable so far, but stay tuned. We'll be back with the details just as soon as we can.
Correction:
We received this note from "Mike":
Ray, the owner of RangerBoard.com, is actualy the credited one of the SPD pictures, that are posted on the fan page RangerBase, which is only pictures. He went to the licensing show last month when Ban-Dai unveiled the name SPD and products and brought back pictures.
Thanks, Mike, for making sure we give credit where it is due.
