While the kids are winding down their summer and the parents are doing back-to-school shopping this
Sept. 7th, Buena Vista will be loading up the stores with two new volumes of
Power Rangers Dino Thunder.
Volume 2: Legacy of Power starts off with the titular story, which is the 500th episode of
Power Rangers ever aired. Dr. Tommy Oliver, formerly a
Morphin' Green Ranger and White Ranger (not to mention stints as the Red Ranger for the
Zeo and
Turbo teams), has been captured by the evil Mesagog. It's up to his pupils to save him, but to do so they'll need to access his computer's secret history file and understand the legacy of being a
Power Ranger. Other episodes will appear on this DVD as well, including "Back In Black," in which the power of the
Dino Thunder Black Ranger is ignited for the first time. This is already available to pre-order from
Amazon.com or
DVDPlanet.com.
Volume 3: White Thunder tells the story of the 5th
Dino Thunder Power Ranger...one who's been turned evil by the source of his powers. Long-time fans will recognize this as a situation that Tommy Oliver can identify with! Can the Red, Yellow, Blue, and Black Rangers help the White Ranger overcome his anger at everything and turn him to the side of good? Will Mesagog and his forces convert him to their side? Will Hayley need a new waiter? You would think that the answers to these questions would be obvious, but actually they're not...the drama is still being played out on new broadcast episodes of
Dino Thunder, and today's airings on ABC gave the White Ranger new reasons to stay on his own side for a while longer. Things are getting muddier, not clearer, and the
White Thunder saga is the start of a long, complicated arc which contains some of the best twists and turns you've seen on the
Power Rangers in a long while. This DVD is also available to pre-order right away from either
Amazon.com or
DVDPlanet.com.
These are a pair of must-haves for any
Power Rangers fan, of any age. Both will list-price for $19.99 each, and supplements will be present, but the only one known so far are the virtual
Dino Thunder trading cards which started with the first volume. Cover art isn't available yet, but stay tuned and we'll bring that to you just as soon as we get it. Our thanks to "Prometheus" for letting us know about the pre-order availability.
