Portlandia is IFC's #1 hit sketch comedy series created, written by, and starring Fred Armisen (SNL) and Carrie Brownstein (WILD FLAG, Sleater-Kinney vocalist/guitarist). The show is driven by a series of hilarious character-based shorts all of which take place in "Portlandia," the creators' dreamy and absurd rendering of Portland, Oregon where 90s culture reigns supreme and political correctness is all the rage.
Guest starring: Selma Blair (Legally Blond, Hellboy); Heather Graham (The Hangover); Steve Buscemi (Pulp Fiction, Boardwalk Empire); Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks, Sex & The City); Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation); Jason Sudeikis (SNL, Horrible Bosses); Gus Van Sant (Milk); James Mercer (the Shins); Sarah McLachlan and local Portland musicians Jenny Conlee and Colin Meloy (The Decemberists) and Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney).
Back in late June we had the scoop that Portlandia - Season 1 would be coming to DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc on December 6th, from Video Service Corp (VSC). Now the studio has officially announced this title, confirming the date and giving us new details, plus box cover art. The DVD release will cost $19.98 SRP, and the high-def version will be a Blu-ray+DVD combo pack for $26.98 SRP. Besides the program itself you'll get Bonus Features that consist of Extended Scenes, Bloopers, an IFC Behind-the-Scenes Featurette, "Thunder Ant" Sketches, Audio Commentary by Armisen and Brownstein, "and much more!" Here's a look at the front cover art for both releases:
