A few months ago we
reported that
Ponderosa was coming to DVD "in the first quarter of 2004."
It looks like PAX Home Entertainment and Ventura pushed it back to the second quarter, but it's still coming. We don't have details or specs yet, but we are informed that the street date is April 13th, and the SRP will be $29.99. Why so cheap? The hint is in the DVD title:
Ponderosa - Season 1, Part 1.
It looks like this hour-long show, which is a modern-day
Bonanza, will take the 20 episodes from the first season and split them up among a couple of DVD releases. Tell Ben, Adam, Hoss, and Little Joe to round up this herd of DVDs, because it looks like they're a-strayin'!
Stay tuned, we'll have more details when they are available.
UPDATE: Just a few hours later, we have a quick update for you (boy, that was quick!). The street date of April 13th comes from several retail sources, but PAX themselves told our own Gord Lacey just a few days ago that the release schedule was not yet set in stone. If that date changes, we'll let you know. The first release -
Season 1, Part 1 - will contain 11 episodes on 3 discs, with no extras. That saves the remaining 9 episodes for
Season 1, Part 2, which will come along later.
Don't touch that dial! We'll bring you more information on this just as soon as we have it.
