Playmakers,
ESPN Original Entertainment's first-ever dramatic series, is a gritty ensemble chronicling the behind-the-scenes and off-the-field lives of the players, families, coaches and owner of a fictional professional football team. This lightning-paced series takes you beyond Sunday's glory, "good guy" endorsements, and super-jock celebrity.
Playmakers reportedly may or may not be returning for a second season "after the NFL publicly objected to the fall series' frank portrayal of misbehavior on a fictional pro football team." Despite the American Film Institute naming this series as one of the 10 best TV Shows of 2003, the network is of course concerned about alienating the NFL and jeopardizing their very profitable relationship with the professional football organization.
In the meantime, the popular sports cable network, which is an operating unit of ABC/Disney/Buena Vista, still wants to look out for fans of the show. Now ESPN's official
