The Pink Panther Show - Blu, DVD for DePatie-Freleng Toons (Inspector, Ant/Aardvark, More!) ***UPDATED***

The 'Kino Lorber Cartoon Volumes' are in-the-works for 2015, 2016

Posted by David Lambert
While some of these classic cartoons have been released on DVD in the past (long since discontinued, though), the folks at Kino Lorber have picked up the rights to many of the DePatie-Freleng Enterprises cartoons (United Artists and Mirisch Films were often involved, too) and are bringing them to DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc in 2015 and 2016. Here's what Kino Lorber has teased at their Facebook post from last Friday:
Coming Soon! On DVD and Blu-ray!

KL Cartoons Volume 1: THE ANT AND THE AARDVARK (17 Classic Cartoons)

KL Cartoons Volume 2: THE INSPECTOR (34 Cartoons) (2 Discs)

KL Cartoons Volume 3: CRAZY LEGS CRANE (16 Cartoons)

    Coming in 2016:
    BLUE RACER (17 Cartoons)
    DOGFATHER (17 Cartoons)
    MISTERJAW (34 Cartoons) (2 Discs)
    ROLAND AND RATFINK (17 Cartoons)
    SHERIFF HOOT KLOOT (17 Cartoons)
    TIJUANA TOADS (17 Cartoons)
Our thanks to longtime reader Anthony DiPaola, who not only brought this to our attention, but also asked Kino Lorber (KL) many hard questions about these releases. To which we can pass along a couple of their immediate answers: The Ant and The Aardvark, The Inspector and Crazy Legs Crane "...have already been re-mastered in HD - we'll do new HD transfers for other 6 in 2015 and 2016."

Also when Anthony asked about original full screen versus matted widescreen presentations, KL responded that "We will make sure to release them in their original aspect ratios." Good to know! Details, box art, pricing...this is all down the road yet, while the studio works on finalizing the first of these titles. Stay tuned for updates, as further developments occur!

UPDATE: Following the above-mentioned Facebook post, an insider at the studio has indicated via message board posts that the planned street date for the first three titles is November 24, 2015. It's not known if this is finalized information, so please assume that it may possibly be subject to change.
