Perry Mason - Robert Redford Guests in the Opener of The 4th Season, Volume 1 on DVD

New collection of classic criminal trials is coming home this June

Since 2006 we've seen CBS DVD and Paramount Home Entertainment fall into a routine pattern with Perry Mason DVD releases: one season per year, with a half-season set released in the summer, and the second half of that same season coming out in time for Christmas. Since this is the fourth year, we must be up to a summertime release of Perry Mason - The 4th Season, Volume 1...and sure enough, it was announced this morning for release on June 9th!

There were 28 episodes in the fourth year of the show (it ran for nine seasons), so we can reasonably expect 14 installments on this new set. None other than legendary actor Robert Redford appears in the season opener, "The Case of the Treacherous Toupee." You'll also spot Louise Fletcher (VR.5, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) and Edward Platt (Get Smart) in one episode, and James Coburn (The Magnificent Seven, Our Man Flint) in another. Video is full frame, audio is English mono, and it is closed captioned for the hearing impaired. Here's a look at the packaging:
