TVShowsOnDVD readers will recall that a month ago we
revealed the winning cover art from the
Party of Five cover art poll we ran on behalf of Columbia/TriStar Home Entertainment at the beginning of the year.
Late on Friday we were a bit surprised, then, to get a routine list of changes and updates to existing CTHE information, and see that among the changes listed was "Party of Five- Artwork updated and finalized".
So we checked it out, and found out that the artwork which YOU voted for is still there, but they've spiffed up the package a bit to heighten its ability to sell the DVDs inside. Here it is (and click on either link above to compare it to the previous version):
As you can see, the most obvious change is that the trim color on the top of the front, and along the sides, has been changed from a deep red to a light blue. The entire picture has also been lightened up a bit, which is good because the chief complaint about the orginal shot was that it was a tad too dark. Also, the wording has become a consistant white color, instead of some white and some dark yellow (or was that "tan"?).
Finally, the order of the cast names across the bottom has been changed to put Scott Wolf at the front. I'm not sure how reliable the reason is, but I'm told that it's to better reflect the order of the way the names appeared on the show's opening credits. I haven't seen the show since it's original broadcast run, though, so I guess we'll all find out for sure on May 4th, when the first season DVD set gets released. I'm looking forward to it, aren't you?
