We received an e-mail within the last couple of hours from Scott Awley of the
Partridge Family fansite
CMonGetHappy.com, who tells us that he was reading over a TV-on-DVD article in the Feb. 26th issue of
Billboard magazine and spotted a pair of illustrations. One was for
Dynasty, which he knew we already had posted here. The other was for the still-not-offiicially-announced
Partridge Family - The Complete 1st Season DVD set. And Scott has been kind enough to scan it for us (and his own website of course!), and send it over:
There's no guarantee that this is the final art, of course, but it sure looks swell to us! We've
already told you that this is expected to ship on
May 3rd, and we've also
talked about extras known to be on the set: a behind-the-scenes look at the first season's production, and a documentary about the music on the show: how it was selected, made, used, etc. The official studio announcement should happen any time now, so stay tuned for that.
Scott brings up a good point, though: the spine of the box says this is a 3-disc set, and there are 25 half-hour episodes, plus at least two extras (and the obligatory "bonus trailers" that Sony always includes) to squeeze onto these three discs. Since Sony is known more for highly compressing their TV-on-DVD releases, and for rarely using double-sided discs with this type of set, we hope that the quality is up-to-snuff here, and that the high compression rate doesn't detract from the release's appeal. We'll just have to wait and see. Our extreme gratitude to Scott for sharing with us and our readers...and to everyone else who's helped us with info for this release (you know who you are).
