Following up on
the Season 1 set released this past spring, Shout! Factory distributor Vivendi Entertainment has informed retailers that
The Paper Chase - Season 2 will be back in court (or is that "back in school"?) on
December 15th, as a 6-DVD set. We've confirmed that info directly with an executive at Shout! Factory.
After a 22-epsiode first season that aired on CBS in 1978-79, the show was canceled but brought back by Showtime in 1983 for three additional seasons, where the show eventually won 2 CableAce Awards for Best Dramatic Series. According to EpGuides.com, the second year (1983-84) contained 19 episodes, the third year (1985) had 11 (including the double-length season premiere episode, which often causes fans to say the count is "12"), and the final year (1986) contained 5 (or 6, if you prefer) episodes, including the double-length series finale that was appropriately titled "Graduation."
The Internet Movie Database (IMDB.com) shows that the second season included some actors who we have become very familiar with by now, including Jane Kaczmarek, Timothy Busfield, Anne Lockhart, Penny Johnson, Jon Lovitz, NFL Hall-of-Famer Lynn Swann, and others who I've probably overlooked. Stay tuned for further updates about Shout! Factory's release, just as soon as the details and cover art become available.
