of the Golden Globe Winning Series on FX
BURBANK, CA, (May 3, 2005) - There is nothing you would want to change about the second season DVD of the dramatically addictive series
Nip/Tuck. Winner of the 2005 Golden Globe for Best Television Series - Drama, the highly anticipated DVD release of
Nip/Tuck: The Complete Second Season finally hits stores on August 30th from Warner Home Video (WHV).
Timed to coincide with
Nip/Tuck's third season premiere on FX, television fans can catch up on all 16 second-season episodes with the deluxe six-disc set, which will retail for $59.98 (SRP).
Season two of the disturbingly perfect drama brings love, lust and painful revelations. Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon return as Sean McNamara and Christian Troy of the elite plastic surgery team of McNamara/Troy, whose skill at giving others perfect bodies contrasts with their imperfect personal lives. As Christian falls for a self-assured blind woman, played by Rebecca Gayheart (
Urban Legend), Sean begins dating a porn star after Julia (Joely Richardson) shares a family secret that tears apart the McNamara household. This season also introduces the Carver, a serial rapist who cuts the faces of his victims. As Sean ignores the threats of the Carver, lives are in the balance in the stunning season finale cliffhanger.
The season also shines bright with notable guest stars. Famke Janssen (X-Men) plays Ava Moore, a predatory "life coach" who develops a relationship with Julia, her son, Matt (John Hensley) and Dr. Troy. Real-life mother and daughter also share screen time as Richardson's mother, award-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave, has a recurring role as Julia's mother, Dr. Erica Noughton.
Revealing DVD enhancements include: Cutting Room Floor: Over 40 minutes of unaired scenes and a never-before-seen featurette, Recurring Pain: Three Women and Their Man.
Set in the high-gloss city of Miami, Nip/Tuck explores the lives of two hot-shot plastic surgeons whose catch phrase, "Tell me what you don't like about yourself," sets the stage for a series filled with secrets and deception.
Nip/Tuck was created by Ryan Murphy (
Popular) and premiered in July of 2003 on the FX cable network. The series exploded to critical acclaim, receiving rave reviews from
The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Associated Press to
The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and
Orlando Sentinel.
TV Guide calls it "the COOLEST show on TV". It also garnered two Golden Globe Award nominations during its premier season, including Best Television Series - Drama and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama (Richardson). In addition, it was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award in the Outstanding Drama Series category.
"Nip/Tuck is one of the most innovative and engrossing series in the history of cable television. The characters are complex, the storylines are addictive -- complimented by superb acting and brilliant writing,
