The
recent announcement for Rod Serling's
Night Gallery - The Complete 1st Season on DVD was very thin on the details, but now we have quite a few of them to share with you!
First of all, a correction on our side: in the previous report, we said there would be "14 hour-long shows, plus *hopefully* the 3 different pilots as well." Actually, there was a single pilot film - approximately 2 hours long - consisting of three different segments, and 6 hour-long episodes, each made up of either two or three story segments. That's around 8 hours of programming, which is what Universal reports we'll find on these 3 DVDs!
- Pilot: "The Escape Route," "Eyes," "The Cemetery"
- Episode 1: "The Dead Man," "The Housekeeper"
- Episode 2: "The Nature of the Enemy," "The Little Black Bag," "Room with a View"
- Episode 3: "Certain Shadows on the Wall," "The House"
- Episode 4: "Clean Kills and Other Trophies," "Make Me Laugh"
- Episode 5: "Lone Survivor," "Pamela's Voice," "The Doll"
- Episode 6: "They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar," "The Last Laurel"
Two of the stories - "Eyes" (from the pilot) and "Make Me Laugh" (seen in the 4th episode) - were directed by none other than Steven Spielberg. Guest stars which appear in these shows include Joan Crawford, Tom Bosley, Roddy McDowall, Larry Hagman, Burgess Meredith, Diane Keaton, Agnes Moorehead, John Colicos, John Astin, Phyllis Diller, and Bert Convy. The star, of course, was the master of suspense: Rod Serling. He is, of course, featured front-and-center on the package front:
