Good evening, and welcome to a private showing of three paintings, displayed here for the first time. Each is a collectors' item in its own way - not because of any special artistic quality, but because each captures on a canvas, and suspends in time and space, a frozen moment of a nightmare.
Rod Serling's chilling introductions to each showing of
Night Gallery is highly wanted on DVD by fans. It looks like their collective nightmare is coming to an end, though, because SciFiWire (a service of The SciFi Channel's website)
reports that things are finally cooking. In a report today which centers around a DVD release of
The Munsters by Universal Studios Home Video, the story concludes with this information:
The company will also release a DVD set of the first season of Rod Serling's 1970 supernatural horror anthology series, Night Gallery, which includes a segment directed by a young Steven Spielberg. The set features 20 stories hosted by Serling.
While we haven't received any information direct from Universal about this, the folks at SciFiWire are quick to point out that "Universal Home Entertainment is owned by Vivendi Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM." Well, that's true for a short time anyway, while the NBC purchase of Universal from Vivendi is in the process of being finalized, now that the Federal Trade Commission
has approved it. Stay tuned, and we'll keep an eye out for updates about this release, and bring you details - including a firm street date - just as soon as the info is available. Thanks to everyone who wrote in about this one!
