Yesterday we
broke the news that
The New Scooby-Doo Movies - The Best Of was coming to DVD on
March 22nd, filled with 15 of the twenty-four hour-long episodes created for Scooby's second TV series.
We guessed at - and correctly identified! - 14 of the 15 episodes, but our stab in the dark at what the final episode might be was incorrect. Instead of the team-up with
Josie and the Pussycats (dare we hope to see that included as a bonus on a
JatP Hanna-Barbera Collection set?), this "Best-Of" compilation will include the Don Adams guest-starrer, "The Exterminator".
A couple of the episodes named in the announcement are going by their alternate "team-up" names, like "Scooby-Doo Meets Dick Van Dyke" instead of "The Haunted Carnival". As an intense Scooby fan, I'd much rather have the "Scooby-ized" version of the title, and let the guest stars' identities speak for themselves. We'll clue you in on both in the below list featuring the disc-by-disc breakdown:
- Disc 1
- The Ghastly Ghost Town (with The Three Stooges)
- The Dynamic Scooby Doo Affair (with Batman & Robin)
- The Frickert Fracas (with Jonathan Winters)
- Guess Who's Knott Coming to Dinner (with Don Knotts)
- Disc 2
- The Spooky Fog (with Don Knotts)
- The Ghost of Bigfoot (a.k.a. "Scooby-Doo Meets Laurel & Hardy")
- The Ghost of The Red Baron (with The Three Stooges)
- The Ghostly Creeps from the Deep (with The Harlem Globetrotters)
- Disc 3
- The Caped Crusader Caper (with Batman & Robin)
- The Lochness Mess (with The Harlem Globetrotters)
- The Mystery of Haunted Island (with The Harlem Globetrotters)
- The Exterminator (with Don Adams)
- Disc 4
- The Weird Winds of Winona (with Speed Buggy)
- The Haunted Candy Factory (with "Mama" Cass Elliot)
- The Haunted Carnival (a.k.a. "Scooby-Doo Meets Dick Van Dyke")
Don't forget that this has some "Stardusted" special features, probably found on the fourth disc:
- Featurette: The Hanna-Barbera Kennel Club Roasts Scooby-Doo
- Featurette: Uptown With Scooby-Doo and The Harlem Globetrotters
- Featurette: The Girls Rock!
Also, there's a contest inside the box. Warner says that "everyone wins with the decoder game piece located inside each release. Grand prize may include a trip to Warner Bros. Animation!" Video is, of course, full-frame and languages for both 1.0 Mono sound and subtitles are in English, French, and Spanish. Here's a full-size look at the box:
