Yesterday we posted BCI's
press release for
Flash Gordon - The Complete Series on DVD, which comes to stores on
July 18th (and will have a Comic-Con launch along with
She-Ra). After reading our story yesterday with that press release, one of our readers asked a very astute question. Here's what Curt Kinney sent us:
In (the press release) about Flash Gordon it says 24 episodes for the entire series. My question is why the difference when the Big Cartoon DataBase has a count of 32 episodes?
We forwarded Curt's inquiry to the folks at BCI, and here is the response they sent us to clarify:
There are 32 "chapters" in the series and we have all of them. The first 16 are 22 minute (TV half-hours). The other 16 are only 11 minutes each. The
decision was made to pair up the final 16 chapters in 8 half-hour episodes.
They'll still have all 32 title slates and credits, so everything is there.
Thanks to Curt for the question, and to BCI for the quick answer. We're happy to learn it is a good answer, and we're sure fans everywhere of this show will be pleased to know that everything is there, and that this really IS
Flash Gordon - The Complete Series!
We've also received a number of emails asking about the TV movie,
Flash Gordon: The Greatest Adventure of All. BCI doesn't currently own the rights to the movie, so it won't be included.
