Last week we
posted news that 2 of the 3 elements of Filmation's 1981 animated classic,
The Tarzan/Lone Ranger/Zorro Adventure Hour, were returning to DVD: the
Lone Ranger and
Zorro parts. In that story we commented that "
there are still no DVD releases in sight of the Tarzan installments from that show." However, one of our longtime readers recalled that ONE animated
Tarzan-based episode has at least made it to DVD: in 2009, Warner Home Video put out
Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1970's Vol 1, a 2-disc set with 11 episodes of various animated shows of the '70s. One item included was an installment of
The Batman/Tarzan Adventure Hour called "The Pest/Tarzan and the City of Gold." So this reader, Ed Clarke, decided to
ask Warner Archive at their Facebook fan page about getting more episodes, and the response Ed got was this: "
We will release the TARZAN animated series., but it may take a while before you see them. We're hoping to remaster them, as the current sources are very poor."
