The Nanny - Confusing Nanny News From Lead Actor

Posted by David Lambert

Charles Shaughnessy, who played "Maxwell Sheffield," the man who hired The Nanny, has posted some new info this past Friday on his official website. Thanks to readers Lauren C. and Mike for alerting us to the update. Here it is, copying and pasting directly from there (capitalization is as quoted):

    "the nanny DVD, season one"

    NEW 4 march, 2005

OFFICIAL WORD as of today, the release of season one of "the nanny" on DVD is planned for all regions in the summer of 2005. as you all know, any and all of this information can change, but we will post any different information if we receive it. all regions may not come out at the same time, but they don't know that for sure right now, but this is the latest official word.

With all respect to Mr. Shaughnessy, we must point out that he contradicts himself almost immediately about whether this will be released in all regions of the world. He first says the "DVD is planned for all regions in the summer of 2005," and then the second sentence after that he says, "all regions may not come out at the same time."

In late January, we went over this in regard to similar reports from the website of Benjamin Salisbury, the actor who played "Brighton Sheffield" on The Nanny. The actors are getting the indication that the DVDs are going to be available "worldwide." But what the studio has told us at TVShowsOnDVD when we asked is that this release is for immediate use overseas, and that they won't bring The Nanny DVDs out in the USA until farther down the road at best.

Is "Summer" far enough "down the road" to match up? We doubt it, and Salisbury has been unable to get concrete word either, but we'll contact Sony again this coming week and talk to them about it. If we have good news, we'll post that in a separate news report all its own! Until then, stay tuned.
