Back in late November we
passed along a report about how Rhino Home Video has pulled the
Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Collection: Volume 10 DVD set off of the market, due to a licensing issue with Episode # 212: "Godzilla vs. Megalon". As we told you at the time, Rhino is going to re-release the set on
February 5th under the slightly different title
Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Collection: Volume 10.2, and the new version will have replaced the problematic episode with a different one, Episode # 402: "The Giant Gila Monster". There will also be a sketch by Joel Hodgson, Trace Beaulieu and J. Elvis Weinstein which comments on the situation that led to the change-out.
For those of who already own the original version of Volume 10, and do not want to re-buy the other three episodes in order to own Episode #402: "The Giant Gila Monster," Rhino has told end-users who "Ask Dr. Rhino" that they plan to make a single-disc version of that episode available as well. We've asked the studio whether that item will be available at retail stores, or only direct from Rhino, and if they could elaborate more on how and when customers can obtain it. The studio has not responded to our inquiries, however, after a substantial period of waiting for a reply.
However, we have been able to obtain from retail sources the cover art for
Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Collection: Volume 10.2, and we have it for you below as a TVShowsOnDVD exclusive. Note, though, that it's only a slight modification from the cover art of the original package that was withdrawn from the market. We also have a link to the Amazon listing for this 4-disc item, which lists for $59.95 but can be pre-ordered right now for $44.99 after Amazon's discount!
