We've had a few e-mails, plus we've seen internet posts, where fans of
The Munsters have expressed concern that
the Amazon.com listing for pre-ordering
The Munsters - The Complete 2nd Season states that this release will be "in color." Yep, if you head to that link and scroll down to the third bullet under the Product Details section, you'll see it currently says "Format: Color, Box set." Fans who are expecting the DVD to show up in the original Black-And-White, like the
1st Season was, are starting to become upset about the idea that these episodes will be colorized (much like Ted Turner did to classic films like
Casablanca in the '80s, to
huge public outrage).
We wanted to post a quick note here and let everybody know to relax. Universal Studios Home Entertainment's release information for this
October 25th release CLEARLY says that
this 3-DVD set will be in the original black-and-white broadcast presentation. Don't let Amazon's error, or even a couple of
color menu shots fool you into thinking otherwise!
The other concern some fans have had is with the custom-shaped "Herman's Head" package, as seen below. Some fans are worried about whether or not the box will fit on their shelves, and if it does what it would look like next to the more normal-style box that the first season DVDs came in. Well, we can't actually tell you anything *for sure* until we physically see the new release for ourselves...but the top of Herman's noggin seems to pop its top right there at the obvious seam below the show's logo on his forehead, but above his eyebrows. We betcha anything that when you pull off that top portion, and look inside what's left, you'll find a normal-style fold-out "digipack" inside similar to the one that was inside the first season box's "flip-up" front cover. We don't know that for sure, of course, but it's a reasonable expectation. So we don't think you ought to worry. Besides, if nothing else, that outer package makes a cool decoration for Halloween!
