Monk homepage has this bit of news posted:

Now, we're cautious right off because they say that the release day is a Monday, and we all know that DVDs always hit the streets on Tuesdays. A quick glance at the calendar shows that Jan. 13th is a Monday
in 2003, but that the upcoming Jan. 13, 2004 is actually a Tuesday. So the people who posted this probably aren't too familiar with DVD street dates, and glanced at a 2003 calendar by mistake.
We're reasonably certain that this blurb hasn't been sitting there all year, because previously that space was occupied by a note about the June 24, 2003 release of
Monk - The Premiere Episode (which the
Monk homepage mistakenly referred to as a
Season 1 release initially).
The previous error and the Monday/Tuesday confusion make us cautious here, especially since there's been no word from Universal Home Video themselves. But in light of the show's recent Emmy win for star Tony Shalhoub, a
Season 1 release seems entirely reasonable for the near future.
