A couple of weeks ago we
passed on information about the
October 18th release of
Mr. Peepers, the classic 1952 series starring Wally Cox and Marion Lorne ("Aunt Clara" from
Bewitched). One thing that was unclear at the time was which studio would be releasing this 4-DVD set. We now have the answer!
Arny Schorr, formerly a senior vice president with Rhino, has put together a new company called S'More Entertainment, with a similar goal of finding the unreleased gems from the past and getting them in front of fans (existing and brand-new fans alike). They are the company putting out
Mr. Peepers on DVD in a few weeks. Next they plan to put out the short-lived 1973 sitcom
Lotsa Luck starring Dom DeLuise; look for that in November (it's probable that the Dom DeLuise interview mentioned in
Video Business as an extra for
Mr. Peepers is actually for the
Lotsa Luck release...that's our guess, anyway).
S'More also has the rights to a 1967 series called
Good Morning, World, a show about radio disc jockeys (long before
WKRP came along), and whose cast includes a pre-
Laugh-In Goldie Hawn. The producer of this show is Sam Denoff, who also produced
The Dick Van Dyke Show, and later produced
Lotsa Luck as well.
The St. Clair Entertainment Group (a Canadian-born company that now resides in New York) will handle distribution and marketing for S'More Entertainment products. It looks like S'More may be a company to keep an eye on, so stay tuned and we'll do that. We'll let you know what else they come up with, okay?
