Yesterday was a special day for
Mister Ed fans: it was the 90th birthday for show star Alan Young! Happy birthday, "Young" man; we're sorry we missed mentioning it when we
reported yesterday about bonus material included for
Mister Ed - The Complete 2nd Season on DVD. That's coming out on
February 2nd from Shout! Factory, and we're grateful because the studio has been in touch with us today, providing some additional information about this 4-disc set.
First of all, we're told that the second season set of
Mister Ed will be the complete version of each episode, as originally broadcast. We know many fans will be very relieved to hear that! The studio also gave us some clarification about the extras spoken about yesterday, too. They verified that the Studebaker piece we reported on will mainly be showing the commercials we spoke of, rather than anything historical about the company or it's sponsorship.
Moving on to the other bonus material on this set: folks have been curious about the audio-only
Stu's Show interview with stars Alan Young and Connie Hines : what will be visually on-screen while this plays? Shout! is considering various options, but is mostly leaning toward the idea of having an episode playing on-screen, while we listen to the interview (in a manner similar to how a commentary track would normally be presented). That interview, by the way, originally was broadcast and recorded on Shokus Internet Radio in February, 2008.
Rights to a second Stu's Show interview, this time with just Alan Young (recorded in October 2007), have also been secured for use on the eventual
Mister Ed - The Complete 3rd Season set. Assuming sales for the second season set go as well as they did for the first season release, we could possibly see that a bit later in 2010 ..so don't delay, order
