Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeer Cubby O'Brien, who has had a long and successful career as one of the top drummers in the music business, will be Stu Shostak's guest live this Wednesday, October 1 beginning at 4:00 p.m. PDT (7:00 p.m. EDT) on "
Stu's Show," the signature program on Shokus Internet Radio (www.shokusradio.com).
Cubby will tell the whole story of how he was selected to be on "
The Mickey Mouse Club," how his pairing with colleague Karen Pendleton made them an instant sensation with both kids and adults, what his relationship was like with Jimmie Dodd, Walt Disney, and fellow mouseketeers, including Annette Funicello, who will be featured
in an upcoming DVD release from the series by Buena Vista Home Video on November 11. In addition, Cubby will recount behind-the-scenes tales about the classic television series.
Emphasis will also focus on Cubby's later career - drumming on such classic series as "
The Lawrence Welk Show," "
The Carol Burnett Show," and touring with The Carpenters (a relationship that spanned over 10 years), Spike Jones, Ann-Margaret, Jim Nabors and Bernadette Peters. Listeners will be invited to call in with their questions and comments on the station's toll-free telephone number.
