The 5th season (out of 7) for Melrose Place consisted of 32 episodes...two of them double-length stories, including the season finale. Was Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear) actually getting softer during this season? Fans have been anxious to see those stories again, and they'll finally get their chance to see THE FIRST HALF of this year's worth of episodes when Paramount Home Entertainment releases Melrose Place - The 5th Season, Volume 1 on February 10th.
Lisa Rinna joins the cast as "Taylor McBride," teaming up with Locklear, Marcia Cross, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Doug Savant, Grant Show, Andrew Shue, Josie Bissett, Laura Leighton, Thomas Calabro and Jack Wagner. Among the guest stars you'll see are Bibi Besch, Michael Des Barres, Greg Evigan, Gail Strickland, Donna Mills, Chad Lowe and Phil Morris.
Why only a half-season? The studio hasn't given any solid indications so far, but our guess has to do with the fact that this is the season where ratings began to taper off, combined with sales drop-offs for the more recent DVD releases of the series. That's just our own line of thinking, however. Running 887 minutes long, Melrose Place - The 5th Season, Volume 1 will come to you with full-screen video, and English Stereo Surround audio. No further details are available yet, nor do we have cover art either. But stay tuned and we'll bring you updates with anything else we find out!
