Matt Houston - Industry Gossip Indicates that the Classic '80s Series is Being Eyed for DVD!

Look for it to possibly be released in 2010, according to our sources

Matt Houston, the ABC network's 1982 series starring Lee Horsley (The Sword and the Sorcerer ) is finally on the radar for DVD release, according to an industry source of ours that's distantly involved with the project. Nothing is set in stone, we understand, but things are looking fairly good for a 2010 bow of the show which ran for 3 seasons and 67 episodes (including the double-length pilot telefilm, and the double-length second season premiere). Cast included Pamela Hensley (Buck Rogers in the 25th Century). Guests included Buddy Ebsen (The Beverly Hillbillies, Barnaby Jones) in the third season premiere, as Matt's Uncle Roy Houston.

Other notable names in the first season alone will include the likes of Barbara Carrera, Jill St. John, Heather Locklear, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Britt Ekland, Vic Tayback, Dick Butkus, Janet Leigh, Army Archerd, Cesar Romero, Jill Whelan, Sid Caesar, James Coco, Hope Lange, Lori Loughlin, Tina Louise, David Cassidy, Troy Donahue, Norman Fell, Jessica Walter, Gary Lockwood, George Takei, Barbi Benton, Sonny Bono, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Werner Klemperer, Alan Hale Jr. and Dick Sargent. That's quite a list, and we're sure we've overlooked other names as well. We're sure it will sell...and we're also sure CBS/Paramount knows that, so hopefully we'll hear something official in the not-too-distant future. That studio (one of several) has slowed down their rate of TV-DVD releases due to the poor economy, though, so it may be a while. Stay tuned, however, and we'll let you know if we hear anything further!
