A week and a half ago we
posted a story confirming that CBS/Paramount's
June 3rd DVD release of
Mannix - The 1st Season will indeed contain all 24 episodes of the "true" first season of the show (before Gail Fisher joined the cast as "Peggy Fair"). Now we've gotten the goods about bonus material that will be found on this upcoming 6-disc set!
Award-winning DVD Producer Paul Brownstein is the man behind the extras on this release, and in fact he's just recorded some of the material this past week. Here is what you'll find on the supplements:
- Commentary Tracks
- "The Name Is Mannix" (Pilot) by Creator William Link
- "Another Final Exit" by Mike Connors and Joseph Campanella
- Audio Intros by Mike Connors on each Episode and on all Special Features
- On-Camera Reunion with Mike Connors and Joseph Campanella
- Mike Connors on The Mike Douglas Show
- Clip from Diagnosis Murder with Mike Connors playing "Mannix"
For those of you who forget, Joseph Campanella played the role of "Lew Wickersham", who was Joe Mannix's boss at the detective agency "Intertect" during the first season. In fact, Campanella received an Emmy Award nomination for this role! He returned in Season 6 in a different role, Dr. Graham Aspinall, for the episode "The Crimson Halo".
William Link was not only the creator of
Mannix, but also of shows like
Murder, She Wrote and
Columbo. We've heard that Link talks about
Columbo quite a bit in his
Mannix commentary track, so fans of that show might be interested in hearing what he has to say.
