Late November 2007 saw
Time Life's online release of
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - The Complete Series on DVD, which brought all 4 seasons of the show (105 episodes) and simply TONS of bonus material together into a special silver "attaché case" package. The release, produced in conjunction with Warner Home Video was exclusive to Time Life until the Fall 2008 timeframe.
This morning Warner has announced that they will release this exact same 41-DVD package at retail on
October 21st. It will be in the same "attaché" packaging, with the same content (both on-disc and off). Cost will be $199.92 SRP, which is about fifty dollars less than Time Life has been selling it for. Rumors are that Time Life will continue to
sell this online, but will "cry
U.N.C.L.E." and lower their price to match Warner's (probably at or near the time the retail sets begin shipping). Of course, individual retailers are probably going to discount the set even further; we would be surprised if you couldn't find it for under $150 in time for the Christmas gift-giving season. On the other hand, it's not hard to Google up some discount codes to use at Time Life's website, either.
Here is Warner's provided picture of the set, which does indeed match the pictures from Time Life last year:
