Sony/MGM has announced this morning the upcoming DVD release of CBS's 1998 take on The Magnificent Seven. Based on the classic Western film, the first of two seasons had 9 episodes (including the double-length pilot), and that is what's coming to DVD on December 6th. Look for this hour-long show to be squeezed onto 2 discs. Pricing and extras (if any) are not available yet, nor is cover art.
The show starred Michael Biehn ("Kyle Reese" from The Terminator), Ron Perlman (TV's Beauty and the Beast), Eric Close (Now and Again, Taken), Anthony Starke (who had popular guest shots in Seinfeld and The Flash), Dana Barron (the original Audrey Griswold of Vacation) and Laurie Holden (The X-Files). Speaking of The X-Files, popular mystery man Jerry Hardin ("Deep Throat") showed up in Magnificent Seven as a guest star, as did Kurtwood Smith, Barry Corbin, Michelle Phillips, and Robert Vaughn (who played "Lee" in the original 1960 classic film version of The Magnificent Seven), who would appear in two episodes during the first season as "Judge Oren Travis."
Stay tuned and we'll bring you more info about The Magnificent Seven - The Complete 1st Season just as soon as the studio makes the details available.
