In the past - specifically in May 2015, and then again in November 2015 - we passed along word that Toronto-based Visual Entertainment, Inc. (VEI) was showing new TV titles on their website's "Coming Soon" page
. That Bill Bixby's The Magician
was among these titles, and also such items as Jake 2.0, Angie, Special Unit 2, Evening Shade, Promised Land, Longstreet, The Immortal, Nero Wolfe
, and others. Now, in the last 24 hours, we've received emails from a number of our readers who are upset: VEI's "Coming Soon" page no longer shows all of those titles!
In fact, if you look at the screen capture we've reproduced below, you'll see that the only titles still on that "Coming Soon" page are The Untouchables
(1990s version), the 1974 show Petrocelli
, and - newly added this morning - the popular classic show Jake and the Fatman
. The latter was not on the page yesterday when we looked at it. But what's up with the deleted items? Should fans of The Magician
and the other shows start to panic?
No. There's nothing to worry about, we're told!
One of the first readers to email us about this issue, Mike Parasich, followed up by informing us that he had emailed the studio and asked customer service about the situation. He told us the following: "I did get a reply from VEI. They said that the [items] that are now on the 'coming soon' page are slated for 2016, the rest were pulled and are planned for 2017...They said to expect The Magician some time in 2017.
So there you have it: VEI simply made the decision that they should "pull back" on that (very long!) list which was on that "Coming Soon" page, and limit it to just a few titles which are "next in line" for release. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll keep you updated on these various shows and their DVD releases, as soon as more info becomes available to us! Our thanks to Mike Parasich for passing along what VEI told him, and to VEI themselves for being so forthcoming about what's going on.
