A
press release we just posted has the good news (and note that we're putting up one story here for
MADtv and another story there - the press release itself - for
Beetlejuice, so fans of both shows who visit our site can each see about it)! Shout! Factory has today announced that they've struck a licensing deal with Warner Home Video to release DVDs of the animated spin-off series based on the theatrical film
Beetlejuice, and also to release season sets of
MADtv, based on the long-running humor magazine.
The program
MADtv was long-running itself, lasting 14 seasons from 1995 to 2009. Warner released
Season 1 on DVD in 2004, but no other season sets. They tried a 2005 release of
The Best Of Seasons 8, 9 & 10, but since then the show has been stalled on DVD.
Now, per the press release, Warner is granting Shout! Factory permission to release the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th seasons of
MADtv as individual DVD titles. No details are available yet about what we'll see, or when specifically we'll see it, or what the precise contents will be (for instance, if any extras would be included). Nor is there any cover art yet; 100% of the available information is found in the press release we've linked to above. This is just a heads-up from Shout! to expect these programs from them in the not-too-distant future. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll update you as further developments occur!
