Last week we
had the scoop that
Mad Men - Season 3 is on the way from Lionsgate, arriving
March 23rd for both
DVD and
Blu-ray Disc formats. At the time we had detailed contents and specs for both versions, except for audio format on the high-def BD version. We said in our previous report that "sound is expected to be in English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio"; the studio has now verified that this is the case.
At the time we also had a list of the bonus material, which was originally shown to retailers as being identical on both the DVD and Blu versions of the title. However, now Lionsgate is telling the press that "
the Blu-ray Disc also features an interactive look at the inventions, events and people that defined the year"...something additional which won't be found on the standard DVD version. What do fans get if they haven't gone high-def yet? Well, the studio says that "
the DVD will be housed in limited edition 'lowball glass' packaging." From the wording, it sounds like they could possibly mean something different than the
standard-looking DVD package art we showed you last Tuesday...maybe it will be something akin to
the limited edition "lighter" package that ony the DVD version had for the first season release.
We're not sure, because for DVD format the only picture offered so far by the studio - to press or to retailers - is the same one we showed you last week (seen again at bottom). In the meantime, Lionsgate has also provided retailers with a nice 3D look at the Blu-ray Disc package art, and we've got a peek at the for you first!
