Last week we
let you know that the DVD release of
Mad Men - Season 2, which hasn't officially been announced by the studio, Lionsgate, just yet, is nevertheless
up for pre-order at Amazon. And the second season's
Blu-ray version can be pre-ordered from there as well, now...that wasn't the case at the time of our previous report. However, neither Amazon listing shows any sort of release timetable. Instead they say "
This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives."
But thanks to one of our readers, Francine Benoit Boileau, we now have an idea of when these releases will actually ship! Over at AMC's online store, there's
a listing for the DVD release. You can pre-order it through them, too (although the pricing, at least as of this writing, is not an improvement over Amazon's...they're identical). The important part, though, is the line that says "
Available now for pre-order and will ship in July 2009."
So it's not a short wait after all. In fact, that timeframe is exactly a year after the first season set's release on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. This shouldn't be a surprise, as it will likely tie in with the debut of the third season of this award-winning show. Given the long lead time, it will probably be a while before we have too many further updates, but stay tuned and we'll get back to you with more whenever it becomes available.
