Just a couple of weeks ago, in mid-October, we brought you this
great news about Paramount's TV-DVD plans for 2005. Along the way we told you this about
MacGyver: "There are some high-speed plans for this show, starring the ever-popular Richard Dean Anderson. Look for that series to not only arrive on DVD in 2005, but to quickly hit a fast track and demand space on your shelves at home...you can potentially look for quarterly releases to arrive in January, April, August, and December."
Well, the first release mentioned comes true! The second-most-requested series in our voting finally gets a DVD release on
January 25, 2005.
MacGyver - The Complete 1st Season is a 6-disc box set that features all 22 episodes from the first season.
Angus MacGyver, formerly of the Special Forces, is a secret agent who refuses to carry a gun with him, but fortunately never needs one. Drawing on a vast practical knowledge of science, Macgyver is able to make use of anything around him to create solutions to any problem he faces. Underestimating MacGyver is a major mistake made by his enemies and always results in the destruction of their plans.
This will come in full screen 1.33:1 video format. The sound is Dolby Digital English Mono according to the studio's info sheet, and is closed captioned for the hearing impaired. The running time is 17 hours, 25 minutes. As is normal with many of the hotter Paramount TV-on-DVD releases, there is no suggested list price attached to this box set. However, they expect you find it in stores priced around $30 (around CAN$40 in Canada).
