Last week we
passed along info from the CBS DVD fan page on Facebook that
The Lucy Show - The Official 3rd Season will be available to own starting
November 30th. Today distributor Paramount Home Entertainment officially announced the title to retailers, confirming the release date. We're also able to pass along that a featurette is supposed to be included on this set, we're informed, that shows archival news footage of Lucy at the 1964 New York World's Fair during "Lucille Ball Day" there. Very nice! Package art and pricing haven't been provided just yet (although we're expecting the cost to be $39.98 SRP, just like the previous two season sets have been). Nor is the title up for pre-order, as of this writing. However, stay tuned for updates!
UPDATE: CBS/Paramount has sent retailers an early look at the front cover art for this 4-disc set, and some of our friends in the industry have passed that picture along to us. We've got a look at it for you below, but please keep in mind that it could be subject to change. As you can see, along the bottom it mentions the previously-described featurette about the World's Fair, and also talks about "Rare Promos and more!." The "more," we're informed, includes Cast Commercials and "Special Footage" (that might refer to the Fair featurette, however). We also have the studio description of this set for you now:
The classic comedy The Lucy Show is back on DVD for a Third Season of side-splitting episodes, hilariously performed by TV superstar Lucille Ball, playing suburban mom Lucy Carmichael. This season, Lucy squares off again with Theodore J. Mooney (Gale Gordon), the stubborn bank president who controls her finances - but who always manages to fall for Lucy's schemes. Also returning are Lucy's TV family: her partner-in-crime Vivian (Vivian Vance, I Love Lucy), Lucy's daughter Chris (Candy Moore), Lucy's young son Jerry (Jimmy Garrett), and Vivian's son Sherman (Ralph Hart). The Lucy Show is pure gold, confirming Lucille Ball as the queen of TV comedy!
