When
I Love Lucy - The Complete 5th Season was released this past August, eager fans snapped it up to enjoy the classic episodes of the Ricardos' trip to Europe. Not long after, though, we started to hear reports from a few readers that there was a glitch in the set. During the episode "Lucy's Italian Movie", on the 4th disc, there is a problem where the Spanish subtitles will just pop up on their own. Paramount has confirmed this error to some of our readers.
Another issue that's been reported to us, which the studio seemingly has not confirmed yet, has to do with a scene in "Lucy Meets The Queen" where the episode skips or freezes for a second. This is during the time when Lucy and Ethel come down and find a mob in the hotel lobby. Paramount is still looking at this.
In the meantime, though, we have it on good authority that you can call the same Paramount Consumer Line (323-956-3010) that was used
regarding the defective disc replacement for Season 4, and they will work out getting a replacement disc for you for that 4th DVD. That will fix the "Lucy's Italian Movie" issue, and copies arriving in stores now should contain the fixed discs. Our thanks to everyone who communicated with us on this matter. Stay tuned and we'll let you know if we get any further word on the "Lucy Meets The Queen" episode's issue.
