I Love Lucy fansite on the 'net, LucyFan.com, always has the best info about upcoming plans for DVDs (and why not, since Gregg Oppenheimer - son of the show's producer/co-writer, and caretaker of his father's legacy where this series is concerned - is involved with the DVDs and regularly stays in touch with the staff at LucyFan).

last week's regular column, LucyFan's Thomas Watson wrote up some big plans for future
I Love Lucy season set releases, including word of a re-packaging of the fat 1st Season box set. Here's the quote:
Season 4 is tentatively scheduled for release in May -- as is a "reissue" of Season 1. (Paramount liked the new slimline packaging used on season 2 so much that it is planning to reissue the first season that way. It takes up much less shelf space and is cheaper to produce!) Season 5 will probably be released sometime in the fall of 2005 or early in 2006. An exact date has not been announced.
That's good to hear! Bear in mind that TVShowsOnDVD hasn't verified this info directly with the distributor, Paramount. However, LucyFan has a good track record for DVD info, and it's well worth passing on.
