It looks like we - and Paramount - had spoken too soon. Just a couple of weeks ago TVShowsOnDVD passed on
news from Paramount Home Entertainment that they planned to get
I Love Lucy - The Complete 3rd Season into stores in November.
Then, at the top of this week, the great folks at LucyFan.com
reported that the 3rd season - even though subscribers to the proper program at Columba House can get it right now - won't be available at retail until "probably in February", according to Gregg Oppenheimer (son of the show's producer/co-writer, and caretaker of his father's legacy where this series is concerned). Our thanks to one of our readers, "Kevin", for pointing us toward this info.
When we contacted Paramount to verify the situation, they agreed that it WOULD now be a 2005 release, but that they couldn't even say for sure at this time that February will be the month. Oh, well...that just gives us all more time to watch and re-watch our recently purchased 2nd Season box sets! And stay tuned...we'll update you as soon as Paramount puts it firmly back on their schedule.
