Back in January we ran
this story about how Fox Home Video was prepping further DVD season sets of
Lost In Space for release, and that
Season 2 should see release in July, according to fansite Jup2.com.
A week ago today, we
updated you with new information from The Home Theater Forum discussion website, where owner Ron Epstein posted info that the
Season 2 release was now set for
September instead. He stated that bonus features would be included this time, but didn't say what they were.
And that's where the guys at Jup2.com come back into the picture. They sent over a note directing our attention back to their website,
which has this to say about the extras planned for the next release:
On April 1st Ray Dutczak posted on his LOSTINSPACEMEMORIES Yahoogroups list "official" news that Season 2 of LIS will be released in September 2004 :

Subject: Kevin Burns Report!
I had a very nice conversation with Kevin Burns last night. Always enjoy chatting with him. It is official, the second season of LIS on dvd will be out in September. This set will have some extras to it.
The one extra that Kevin mentioned that will be included is interviews of June, Guy and Jonathan that was on a record that was sent out to promote the start of the new second season of LIS. The record has been digitally remastered and the interviews will be heard for the first time in 40 years.
These interviews on the dvd will contain second season photos
tol accompany the audio. Kevin is working with Fox on this now. Very
encouraging to see Fox working on the dvd's already for a September release.

Sweet! Even though this will count as a single "extra," it's really two-in-one: the audio recordings, and the photo gallery it will be combined with. This will be pretty satisfying to a lot of fans, who bemoaned the lack of extras on the
Season 1 release other than the already-on-DVD "CBS Network Presentation."
Jup2.com also mentions a different improvement over the previous release. If you scroll a bit further down, you'll see word from Kevin Burns - who is a consultant for Fox on these releases - that the second season episodes were "put through an additional digital cleaning and color correction step" while being prepared for the upcoming DVD compilation. We think that this should make a good video presentation from the previous release become "great" on the next one, so we - and a lot of fans - are grateful to hear about that, too.
Stay tuned, and we'll continue to monitor information about this package (and the
Season 3 set that's also being planned), and bring more about it to you just as soon as we can. Thanks to "Jupiter-2" for the heads-up about his site's additional info.
