As you know, ABC/Disney has
announced that
December 8th will see the release of the 5th Season set for
Lost, which celebrated its 100th episode airing last night! There are four different variations on this release being planned for that date:
- DVD:
- Blu-ray Disc High-Def:
Now Amazon's listing for the standard DVD release has been updated with our first look at possible cover art for the 5-disc set. If you haven't seen these episodes yet, you might be wondering at the glowing "flash"-like design to this picture. Let's just say you'll understand quickly when you begin watching; that flash effect plays an integral part in this season's storyline!
Keep in mind that this is coming from Amazon, not directly from the studio, so we're not certain that this is the finalized package art for that release. And so far there's no package-style artwork for the other three listings. Stay tuned, though, and we'll keep you updated! Our thanks to reader Katherine Keirns for the heads up on this artwork.
Amazon has also added
a pre-order listing for a
December 8th high-def Blu-ray Disc release of
Lost - The Complete Seasons 1-5. This essentially looks to be a quick, down-and-dirty bundling of the first five seasons of the show, with no special packaging or extra content. While we don't usually cover such releases here, it's worth mentioning because it's the first time all of these seasons will be available to be bundled together (Season 3 was released on BD first, then Season 4, and Disney is going back to release Seasons 1 and 2 this coming June 16th). Also, it's my opinion that nothing shows off the great video capabilities of Blu-ray Disc better than
Lost. Don't forget that this coming holiday season will see all sorts of bargains on Blu-ray players, so if you have an HDTV set and no BD capability yet, then you'll want to keep your eye on a possible upgrade!
