Lost - Pricing of the Season 5 Blu-rays is Lower than Previously Reported

Disney informs US & Canadian retailers of the cost, running time of these December releases

Yesterday we reported that the Lost - The Complete 5th Season listings at Amazon.com for standard DVD and hi-def Blu-ray Disc formats had both been updated, giving a release date for the first time. December 8th is the day shown there, but no other information has been available except for pricing. Today we've got an update about that for you, too!

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has informed retailers, in an early alert, that the DVD release will be sold for $59.99 SRP in the USA, and CA$79.99 SRP in Canada. The Blu-ray Disc release will have a list price of $79.99 SRP in the USA, and CA$94.99 SRP in Canada. The critical new piece of info here is the United States pricing for the Blu-ray version: Amazon's info has been showing that it would be $96.99 SRP, a good seventeen dollars more than the $79.99 SRP amount that the studio is now saying. This means that a State-side consumer's discounted "street price" for the BD version is more likely to end up in the mid-50's, dollar-wise.

If you've already placed a pre-order with Amazon for the Blu-ray version, then don't worry: Amazon's policy is to charge you the lower price between the amount on the day you placed your order, versus the amount of the item on the day they ship it; no action is necessary. They've temporarily stopped taking new pre-orders until Disney formally announces the title, which is likely to be after the season wraps up (six more episodes, including tomorrow night's installment titled "Dead is Dead"). The only other information Disney has provided so far is that the overall running time on the featured episodes will be 713 minutes. Stay tuned for further developments, however, as they happen!
