A week ago today the studio gave a us a long-range look at the DVD release date for Lost - The Complete 4th Season: The Expanded Experience
, scheduled to arrive December 9th
on both DVD and high-definition Blu-ray Disc formats. Last Friday's press release
had all the details available at the time, including extras. But now the folks at Walt Disney Home Entertainment have revealed that both versions will get a pair of additional bonus items not mentioned last week: "The Lost
Flashbacks" (traditionally seen on previous season sets, featuring flashback sequences that didn't air on the original TV broadcasts) and an exclusive "Oceanic Airlines Safety Guide." My, my...gotta wonder what THAT's about!
We're trying to find out if the so-called "mobisodes" (i.e., webisodes intended for viewing on a mobile phone, but often available online as well), collectively called "Lost: Missing Pieces
, will be included on these releases too. These are 13 short (1.5 - 3.5 minutes) scenes that were created for fans to watch during the gap between the third and fourth seasons, and take place at various points during the events of the first three seasons (or during flashbacks shown during those three seasons). In other words, they don't spoil the fourth season at all. Nor are they really "required" viewing, but they're cool (I've seen them all) and are considered "canon" (the events "really" occurred, as far as producers are concerned), and so we think they ought to be provided on these sets. Besides, it's the only way so far to actually see the character referred to as "Frogurt" (a.k.a. "Neil"), who is played in one mobisode by Sean Whalen (seen in Twister
along with 4th Season cast member Jeremy Davies). We'll let you know what we find out about the inclusion of these!
This past Monday Disney provided the first look at packaging for the DVD version
, which can now be pre-ordered from Amazon
. OR you can use the link below to pre-order the Blu-ray Disc edition; the package art for that is also seen below, having come across from the studio a bit earlier today! The list price of the high-definition Blu-ray version is $96.99, but you'll be glad to click that link and pre-purchase it - at least as of this writing - for just $66.95!
